New York: Day 4

Today we had planned to go up the Rockefeller and ice skating in Central Park; however the weather didn’t allow for us to do so… Nevertheless we still went to the Upper East Side, walking through Central Park on the way. Because of the humidity and rain thick clouds of fog hovered over the whole of NY. The park looked amazing with the thick white clouds floating over the water. The fog was so thick that you could only see half the skyscrapers.
After Central Park, we made our way to the MET Museum. I loved the architecture of the MET, with grand arches and columns, embellished coving and massive staircases. We headed straight to the second floor to the David Hockley exhibition. His portraits are filled with colour, their simplicity makes the figures and buildings seem isolated. I love the authentic 1960/70’s feel to the architecture, interiors, and garments in Hockley’s portraits. His ‘joiners’ were also displayed; photo collages each with a different feel. My personal favourite was the collage of someone swimming in a pool. They were photos of one person but the arrangement made it seem like there were several people swimming too.
In the rain we then walked around the Upper East Side, admiring the houses and boutiques. We tried to find the house of Carrie Bradshaw from ‘Sex in the City’, with no luck as apparently they filmed at another location that looked like the Upper East. However this was made up to when we saw Jaden Smith only the way to a café, but of course I was looking down at my phone when he was in front of us, so I only saw the back of him so still counts right?
