In the evening of our first day of New York, on the way to Times Square we walked past a Prive Revaux Eyewear pop-up event. Inside were minimalistic cube installations imitating a frame. Each frame had a different scene; featuring a ‘sky’ with a hyper-realistic cloud, a subway cart covered in graffiti, and jungle. The idea is that you wear a pair of sunglasses they’re selling, take a picture inside the different scenes and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #ReframeYourself. The brand is playing on the idea of events having to be ‘instagramable’, and visually pleasing as an image of social media. They have 3 clear advertising points, one being the sunglasses in the photos promoting their product. The second is their brand name is incorporated within the background of each scene, making sure other people know where the sunglasses are from. The third is buzz, people will click on the hashtag and want to go for their Instagram feed. Each of these create a bubble of brand presence around the event on social media.
