Dad Trainer Trend, here to stay?

The love child of Kanye’s Yeezy collection and Buffalo shoes, Balenciaga’s ‘Triple S’ trainers have dominated streetwear social media for a few months now, and the trend seems to be growing in size…
The trainers sport an over-the-top chunky silhouette which offers a complete contrast to the streamline/slim trainers that have been in over the past few years e.g. Nike Cortez, 97’s and Gazelle’s. The Triple S’ come pre-stressed with a 'dirty appearance' as though they been worn in already. ‘Fresh’ is always affiliated with new trainers with brands like Crepe Check perpetuating the perception that trainers must be kept clean at all time, obviously Balenciaga don’t believe in this.

Worn almost ironically because of how awkward their appearance is the Triple S trainers are conventionally ‘ugly’ and dad-shoe-esque however there’s something about them their design that makes them likeable. The Fila ‘Disruptor’, and Nike Air Max 95 & 98 trainers all that on the same idea as the Triple S’ and we are seeing more and more knock offs being made.
Is this the future of trainers?
