"I wanted to become part of something larger than myself (...) I wanted to embrace the world" - Callie Curry
Callie Curry is definitely one of my favourite artists for various reasons, firstly her work is beautiful. Creating installations, street art, and sculptural pieces SWOON's work is swimming in politically charged imagery whilst keeping compassion at the forefront of her work. She takes on a humanitarian approach to her work and collaborations with a clear hope of inspiring viewers through love and peace. She helped in the efforts to rebuilt New Orleans and Haiti after they were devastated by natural disasters. She truly has a love for everyone which is clearly communicated through her work.
She boldly celebrates people & life.
These are a few of my favourite pieces she has created:

SWOON's work is both structural and heavy, but delicate and detailed simultaneously. She strikes up the perfect balance of portrait and architecture. Her pieces are very personal, but she does not let the structural part of her work dehumanise or isolate the figures.
