I watch YouTube regularly throughout my week as not only do I have access to millions of different perspectives but it’s through visuals, which means I’ll actually pay attention for longer than 5 minuets...

Here are a few of my go-to channels to watch for various reasons (& don’t worry there are no make-up guru's in sight). I have included some links to my favourite videos straight from my 'liked videos' list as well...

1. Wild Daze: 200k subscribers

Mika Francis whose channel goes by the name ‘Wild daze’ uploads fashion, beauty and lifestyle videos. She has a streetwear/boho style, a vegan diet and a deep connection with spirituality. Her personality is extremely vibrant, fearlessly being her she wears out-there clothing but in a way that is though through and balanced. She films vlogs, tutorials, look books and chatty videos each on a variety of different topics/styles. She also has a Soundcloud account which I follow where she puts together playlists for different occasions.

I’m In Bali! - In this video Mika films her time in Bali, which shows her flare for editing and music. She has a chilled yet adventerous attitude towards life which I think this video shows perfectly.

2. TheLineUp: 400k subscribers

Best friends Maya and Julia from Stockholm, Sweden run this channel putting their own individual styles on show. They create fashion, styling , and lifestyle videos. These are covered in a variety of forms; look-books, hauls, fashion film, and chatty videos. They both have a street wear centred style, but they both put their own twists on outfits giving viewers different opinions simultaneously.

DIY Streetwear - This short look-book video shows their filming and editing style perfectly. They have a real contemporary point of view with everything being clean and well thought through. With a clear interest in visuals and music they’re definitely one of my favourite channels to watch weekly.

3. i-D: 800k subscribers

Naturally i-D is a fashion- film channel as they have their own magazine. i-D is already one of my favourite magazines and their YouTube channel is no exception. They have a really strong contemporary feel, with content that covers fashion, film, culture, and music. Their videos are highly stylised and thought-provoking.

I-D Meets - In this video i-D introduces us to London’s rising fashion stars. They talk in depth about their relationship with fashion and what it means to them. This video was the reason I discovered now on of my favourite designers, Dilara Findikoglu.

4. Jessica Kobeissi: 700k subscribers

Jessica Kobeissi is a Lebanese American designer and photographer. Her channel is very photography-heavy which I love because it just shows how passionate she is about her job. She creates fashion and portrait photography tutorials along with Photoshop editing tutorials. I love how she shares each individual stage to producing an outcome. Jessica uploads many videos giving 'tips' to people who are looking for ways to make their photography more interesting. She frequently will invite multiple other photographers to collaborate with her, challenging them to a photo shoot with the same model however they can choose location, styling, props ect. My favourite part is the end when all the photos are put together as it’s really interesting to see how each photographer has a different take on each shot.

Toy Camera Challenge - In this video she, along with another photographer challenge themselves to a photo shoot with just a toy camera. She shows the whole process which I think is great as you can see what really goes into creating a successful photo shoot.

5. Broadly: 300k subscribers

Broadly is a channel centred around the female experience. They discuss really interesting topics through short documentary film. The topics they cover are issues that matter most to women of today’s world; sexuality, self-image, and equality. I love how they fearlessly talk about ‘controversial’ subjects, de-bunking stigma and misconceptions. Their films are contemporary and well-executed.

The Land of No Men - This video introduces viewers to Umoja, where no men are allowed. It talks in depth about genital mutilation, and the new-found matriarchal society found in the women-only village.

6. IAMKARENO: 1.5 million subscribers

Karen Yeung is from Hong Kong originally, raised in California but is now based in LA. She’s a blogger who’s main topics are central to either fashion, beauty, or lifestyle. I love her channel firstly because of her style. It’s a mix of streetwear, vintage and feminine. She emits so much vibrancy in her videos with both her bold style and personality. I love getting inspiration from her YouTube and Instagram.

10 Online Fashion Stores - in this video Karen lists her favourite indie brands and talks about why she likes them. She is a well known blogger but that doesn’t prevent her from being authentic to her own style.

7. Katrin Berndt: 300k subscribers

Katrin Berndt is a Swedish YouTuber, creating beauty and lifestyle content. What drew me to Katrin’s channel was firstly her appearance. She has tattoos covering her body and piercings, I really loved her unconventional beauty. However, what makes Katrin one of my favourite YouTubers is her personality. She has a no-bullshit approach to life, but at the same time shares some of her most intimate thoughts. She’s super in tune with herself and uses that assurance to help others.

My Tattoos 2016 - In this video Katrin talks about her tattoos in depth, explaining the meaning behind her newest tattoos at that time.

8. AEG: 7k subscribers

AEG is a technology based channel however it covers a variety of different topics such as fashion, food, and well-being. It’s a really insightful channel that encourages you to broaden your way of thinking. I love the execution of their videos; clean, professional and engaging. To me it’s really important to have stimulating visuals. Personally I think their channel deserves way more subscribers.

The Next Black - AEG - this is a film about the future of fashion; what issues within fashion that need to be solved and how. This video especially is one of my favourites, it’s current and to-the-point.
