Le Labo (French: "the laboratory”) is a luxury perfume brand based in New York City. Founded in 2006 by Eddie Roschi and Fabrice Penot. Esteé Lauder bought the company in 2014.
It produces 15 fragrances with 8 ambient room scents. The products are not tested on animals they do not include animal products, preservatives or coloration, and. Fragrances are compounded at the time of purchase with the client's name printed on the labels of the boxes and the perfume bottles.
The label states "natural spray", but this does not mean that the ingredients of their fragrances are natural, the ingredients are mostly natural and fews are synthetic from natural raw materials. Le Labo also retails items such as tote bags, detergents, and note books online. There are also 11 scents of City Exclusives which are available only at specific locations for examples; 44 at Paris, Gaiac 10 at Tokyo, etc.
Le Labo is categorized as a Niche perfume as it focues the stories of productions - not mass production and all the fragrances which Le Labo calls them "Creations" are all hand-composed (mix). Niche Perfumery also indicates that Le Labo never pays any media for advertising, Le Labo focuses on good reputation instead.
